If you do one thing on this Wednesday before the long holiday weekend, it should be flipping through all 18 of Gucci‘s ad images for the Fall/Winter 2016 collection.
The buzzing backdrop of Tokyo perfectly plays off the electric designs by Alessandro Michele. Photographer Glen Luchford captured a cadre of models, including Sofia Friesen, Lia Pavlova, Joep Van De Sande and Yan Kumral, plus Gucci girl Petra Collins for the campaign. As Fashionista pointed out, the images take on a bit of a Lost in Translation feel, thanks to the seemingly clueless attitude of the pictures, coupled with subtitles that add depth to the simple poses.
In one image, a plush pink fur coat competes for attention with cherry blossoms while a tuxedoed homme dances about, boombox in tow. And in one shot, graphic black and white shoes step all over a motorcycle. Basically, Michele has created a visually stimulating world that we’d all like to live in.
