Brooklyn Museum

The Brooklyn Museum is located at 200 Eastern Pkwy, Brooklyn, NY. The institution was established in 1895. It is one of the largest and oldest art museums in the United States. The museum’s collection includes over 1.5 million works, ranging from ancient Egyptian artifacts to contemporary art. Notable pieces include the Egyptian “Mummy Chamber,” Judy Chicago‘s “The Dinner Party” and works by artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe and Norman Rockwell. The museum is housed in a Beaux-Arts building designed by McKim, Mead & White. Significant exhibitions have included “David Bowie is,” “Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving” and “Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power.” The Brooklyn Museum also offers a variety of educational programs, public lectures and community events, serving as a vibrant cultural hub for the borough.
