Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden is located at Independence Ave and 7th St, Washington, D.C. It’s part of the Smithsonian Institution and was founded in 1974. The museum is housed in a distinctive cylindrical building designed by architect Gordon Bunshaft, which features a central courtyard and extensive gallery space. The Hirshhorn focuses on modern and contemporary art, with a collection that includes works by artists such as Henry Moore, Picasso and Yayoi Kusama. The outdoor Hirshhorn sculpture garden showcases large-scale works by artists like Auguste Rodin and Jeff Koons. The museum has hosted many notable exhibitions, including “Pulse,” an interactive digital installation by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, and “Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors,” which drew record attendance. The Hirshhorn also hosts educational programs, artist talks and performance art events, engaging a wide audience with contemporary art. Read more about Museums.
