Jack Shainman Gallery

Jack Shainman Gallery was founded by Jack Shainman in 1984 in Washington, D.C., before relocating to New York City in 1985. The gallery focuses on contemporary art with an emphasis on artists from Africa, the African diaspora, and other underrepresented regions. Artists such as Nick Cave, Kerry James Marshall, and El Anatsui have seen their careers flourish through the gallery’s support. Jack Shainman Gallery’s dedication to diversity and global perspectives has made it a pivotal institution in the New York art world, inspiring other galleries to embrace similar commitments.
